OUTCOMES FROM STRATEGY WORK
In brief summary each aspect of Strategy -- Intent, Planning, and Execution -- produce distinct yet inter-related outcomes. NOTE WELL: these outcomes do not list out the necessary intermediate products; for example, the Vision / Mission / Goals statement is an outcome from a Strategy Process that involves looking at the organization in some detail and linking Intent and Capability (current and projected), not simply visiting the nearest mountain top. Yet, it is an intuitive as well as a pragmatic statement - see the quote from Kenichi Ohmae
FROM INTENT:
Clarity with respect to the direction of the organization. For existing organizations it involves revisiting and articulating direction; getting commitment from key decision makers. Often the direction is expressed in terms of the Mission / Vision statement, and high level goals.
Strategy - where, in a general way, to allocate organizational resources
FROM PLANNING:
Details on the implications for the organization of carrying out the Intent.- with specific objectives in support of the Intent level Goals.
Initial drafts of Action Plans.
Commitment and understanding of the implications of the Intent by key leaders in the organization.
FROM EXECUTION:
Action Plans with responsibilities
Understanding and Support from the people who will need to execute the work of the plan
Budgets and Schedules
